Port infrastructure monitoring using the Cyclop-3D system

The Cyclop-3D technology developed by GEO-3D can now be used to monitor port infrastructures including jetties, piers or other linear protective elements.
GEO-3D offers an alternative to aerial surveying based on the use of digital cameras set-up on an aircraft. Cyclop-3D aerial applications generate 3D imagery georeferenced with a GPS (US Patent). Managers of linear rights-of-way can take advantage of the system's stereoscopic image viewing and photogrammetric features to measure objects, geoposition elements and transfer data to their Geographic Information System (GIS). The technology also provides a feature to compare imagery captured at different dates or with different camera angles (oblique/ vertical).
The Cyclop-3D system has proven to be effective for the maintenance and restoration of linear port infrastructures. Imagery relative to artificial rock formations and jetties along the Saint-Lawrence River (Quebec, Canada) were captured. These documents were then processed according to the specific needs to calculate volumes of material moved or to evaluate the physical state of protective infrastructures.
The Cyclop-3D has been recognised as a promising alternative to traditional land surveying, namely for studying linear structural elements. The Cyclop-3D technology can also be used to plan and/or monitor linear elements in the energy and civil engineering sectors such as for vegetation control in electric networks, planning and land use of rights-of-way (roads, pipelines, railways, electric lines, etc.), infrastructure monitoring (dykes, roads, etc.) and other applications.
